Further information when purchasing labels for a Rest Home or a Boarding School.
Do your iron-on name labels really work? Yes, extremely well and if properly applied will stay on for years. We have years of positive feedback. For rest homes, or boarding schools with hot driers we suggest you also put a stitch each end after ironing it on. This is not always necessary - just on some garments. We are often told the only way of removing a label is to cut it off! But a very hot commercial type drier is the only thing that sometimes unsettles our iron on labels. For home washing machines and driers, it is not a problem.
How to apply iron on labels? Everybody's iron is slightly different so although we say use a good cotton heat it is really that you can see yourself when ironing, if it is properly attached, or else increase your heat a little and re-iron again, straight over the top of it. For delicate materials, you can use a thin hanky over the label, to protect the fabric you are ironing onto, but do not to use a thick teatowel or heavy cloth as it would stop the heat going through to adhere the label. After ironing, avoid washing the garment for 24 hours. Easy instructions are included with each order.
What about the sew-on labels? Our polyester sew-on labels are a quality material, (also used for making our washing instruction or care labels for hand made garments). For sewing - either lay the label flat and machine sew around. Or for hand sewing, we suggest you LOOP the label and just sew the two short sides into a seam. Excellent for the top of socks.
